Welcome. HomeWord has been serving the home for 40+ years.
HomeWord was founded in 1985 by Dr. Jim Burns, a widely recognized author, speaker, radio host, and leadership mentor. As founder and president, Jim has dedicated his life to equipping families and church leaders—helping them build strong marriages, confident parents, empowered kids, and healthy leaders (HomeWord). Today, HomeWord continues as a nonprofit ministry focused on practically applying Christian values to address contemporary challenges in family and community life.
From its inception, HomeWord has served as a trusted resource for families and church communities. Jim Burns began speaking and publishing in the mid‑80s to address rising cultural shifts impacting marriage and parenting. Since then, his books—such as Creating an Intimate Marriage, Confident Parenting, and Doing Life With Your Adult Children—as well as his podcast, conferences, and radio broadcasts, have reached millions across multiple languages (HomeWord). Over time, HomeWord has become known for integrating biblical wisdom with cultural relevance in an accessible and relational style.

A Commitment to the Church:
We support the church as God’s primary institution for sharing the love of God and the message of Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 5: 23-24)
A Commitment to Family:
We support the spiritual nurture of the family as one of God’s primary means to perpetuate the Christian faith from generation to generation. (Deuteronomy 6:4-9; 2 Timothy 1:5)
A Commitment to Cultural Relevance:
We believe our ministry should be culturally relevant without compromising biblical absolutes. (1 Corinthians 9:19-23)
A Commitment to Relationships:
We are committed to cultivating deep, abiding Christ-like relationships both within and outside our organization. (1 Corinthians 13)
A Commitment to Integrity:
We are committed to being truthful, accountable, and forthright in all that we do. (Proverbs 2:7)
A Commitment to Ministry Excellence:
We will constantly evaluate our forms and methods for ministry, seeking maximum ministry effectiveness in delivery of our mission. (Colossians 3:23)
Statement of Faith
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, only infallible, authoritative word of God.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
We believe that for salvation of the lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling a Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
We believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ and that all who call upon His name will be saved.
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
