On March 22, the Fox Network is rolling out a new Bible-based limited series, The Faithful: Women of the Bible.
The six-episode concept is simple and, for a Bible adaptation, a little overdue: centered on the women who carry the story of Genesis. The series will follow the “courageous and passionate, yet flawed women” whose descendants would shape Christianity. The lineup includes Sarah, Hagar, Rebekah, Leah and Rachel, with the show weaving their storylines into a single family saga.
“The stories of these matriarchs — Sarah and Hagar; Rebekah: and sisters Leah and Rachel — are as resonant today as when they were first written,” said executive producer Carol Mendelsohn. “Yet their experiences have often been framed through the sagas of Abraham. Issac and Jacob. We felt it was time to shift the lens — to tell these sweeping, foundational stories from the women’s point of view. In their own voices.”
