In today’s modern era of parenting, Google often serves as an invaluable resource for fielding all the parenting curveballs thrown at us throughout the days and nights. Whether it’s the sudden fever at 3 a.m. or deciphering the code language your teenager just came home from school speaking, we’ve all turned to the Google search bar for a consult at some point in time.

Each year, Google examines search trends to identify the most common questions from users, including parents. The data reflects top trending searches that saw a significant spike in traffic over a sustained period in 2025 compared to the year before. Here’s what Google found parents were searching for the most.

Why does my baby…

  1. Hit their head on the wall: You might be surprised to learn that several harmless causes of this behavior include self-soothing, emotional expression, or teething pain.
  2. Pinch me when falling asleep: As babies develop fine motor skills, they’re probably just exploring through touch, and you’re the closest thing nearby, singing them a lullaby.
  3. Randomly gasp for air while sleeping: This could be due to acid reflux or gassiness. If severe or persistent, contact your health care provider.

Why do kids say…

  1. 67: Not a surprise that this word/number that doesn’t mean much at all tops the list when it was Dictionary.com’s 2025 Word of the Year.
  2. Sigma: The sigma label for being true to oneself and maintaining independence gained popularity among teens as the year went on.
  3. 41: Another nonsensical slang number term, this one is similar to 6-7 and meant to confuse people who don’t know the meaning.
