The following is excerpted from an online article posted by Parents

BetterSleep, an app which tracks users’ sleep habits… partnered with a company called Wakefield Research to survey 1,000 moms across the country who have kids under 18 at home. According to the resulting data, 29% of moms haven’t had a good night’s sleep in the past week, while only 23% “get at least seven hours of sleep on a normal weeknight.”

And it’s not actually their kids who are keeping them awake! Seventy percent of moms cited “anxiety, mental load, or racing thoughts” as the reason for their sleepless nights, although another 20% blamed their partner’s snoring.

But clearly, this way of life is not sustainable. An exhausted parent has a shorter temper, is cranky, can’t focus, has trouble remembering important details, and can’t even enjoy spending time with their kids because they are so tired.

The results of the report emphasize this as 48% of respondents feel like they’re just going through the motions with their kids, while another 34% are leaning harder on screens or TV to survive the day. And here’s a really heartbreaking statistic: 20% of moms said they “feel emotionally disconnected from their own children.”
