As more and more teens use artificial intelligence (AI) on a daily basis, Meta just released a new way for parents to keep tabs on what their teens are talking about online.

The company announced on April 23, 2026, that parents who use supervision tools will now be able to see what topics their teen discussed with Meta AI in the past week, whether on Instagram, Facebook, or Messenger.

Updates like these may be helpful as 64% of teens say they use AI chatbots, according to a 2025 report from the Pew Research Center.1 About 3 in 10 say they use them daily. With reports of an AI chatbot leading to a teen death and Common Sense Media finding 33% of teens have relationships or friendship with AI companions, it’s understandable why parents would want to know about their kids’ interactions with this still very new piece of technology.
