On June 16, 2026, Roblox announced the launch of Roblox Kids and Roblox Select age-based accounts. The former is for ages 5 to 8, while the latter is for ages 9 to 15.
“It’s going to help us put the kids in the right buckets,” Elizabeth Milovidov, PhD, JD, senior director of parental advocacy at Roblox, tells Parents. “It will control what games they play, the type of content they see, and more importantly, it helps parents guide them.”
But for young users who are already on Roblox, they will need to ensure they are in the appropriate accounts. Although Roblox previously rolled out restrictions, as well as age checks as a requirement to set up “trusted friends” and later to access chat features, these new updates aim to take it a step further.
“The most important thing for parents to know is that they should really do the age check, so that way they know that their kid is put in the right buckets,” she says.
