The Los Angeles area wildfires are still raging, and countless thousands are have been evacuated from their homes. The HomeWord Team is heartbroken over the devastation caused by these fires. We grieve with those who have lost so much in the past few days and whose lives will be impacted for years to come. Much of our beloved HomeWord community is experiencing this tragedy firsthand, and if you have been affected personally, please know that our hearts are with you, and our prayers on your behalf and for the entire region are being lifted before our loving and gracious Heavenly Father.
In this time of so much uncertainty, I’d like to encourage you to join us in response to these current events. Here are three things you can do:
1. Join us in prayer on behalf of the people in the Los Angeles area. We believe in the power of prayer. We believe God hears and answers. I love this verse from Psalm 65, “You faithfully answer our prayers with awesome deeds, O God our savior. You are the hope of everyone on earth…” Psalm 65:5 (New Living Translation)
2. Get involved, if possible, by partnering with Emergency Network Los Angeles. The city of Los Angeles has vetted them and recommended going through them to provide an opportunity to give of your time and resources. Some of ENLA’s partners include the American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.
3. Give directly to HomeWord via this link. We have HomeWord friends and family members who have lost their homes, and 100% of these “designated funds” will go directly to those in our HW community who have been affected. Please be sure to type “Fire Relief” in the Designation part of the giving form!
We never know what tomorrow holds. It might be triumph or tragedy. But I agree with the person who once said: “We know Who holds tomorrow.”
“And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
